It would not be wrong to compare pets to a ‘close friend’ who lives in the same house as us. Animal lovers therefore want a ‘happy home’ that is not only comfortable for themselves, but also a home where their beloved pets can live happily.

Pets can generally be classified into land animals, aquatic animals, and birds, or categorized by the space they require: small, medium, and large pets. Many people are charmed by the cuteness of small baby animals, but as they grow, they can become very large, leading to unexpected problems. Therefore, there are basic principles to consider when preparing a new home space for pets as follows:

Size – Each type of pet has different size requirements and lifestyle activities, so you must carefully study the natural behavior of the animal to arrange suitable space. If you keep goldfish, you may only need a small bowl and a table. But if you keep an arowana fish, you must know that it will grow very large and will require a bigger space. If you keep a poodle, a small room may be sufficient. However, if you keep a large dog such as a Saint Bernard, you will need a spacious home and may even need air conditioning, as some breeds are sensitive to heat.

Noise – You must carefully consider how much noise your pet will create. If you keep an iguana, noise is not a concern. But if you keep birds, their pleasant sounds that you enjoy may disturb others. Therefore, you must prepare a space that prevents pet noise from bothering neighbors.

Odor – Each living creature has its own smell, not only from waste but also from their body. Therefore, you must consider proper ventilation and wind direction so that unpleasant odors do not enter your home or disturb neighbors, which could become pollution for others who are not pet owners. Owners themselves may become accustomed to the smell and unable to distinguish whether it is pleasant or unpleasant.

Behavior – Raising pets happily requires an environment and space suitable for their natural behavior. Some pets may have behaviors that can cause danger or disturbance to people and other living beings. For example, some dogs may be restless and run outside the house, risking accidents or frightening neighbors. Some dogs may be aggressive. Some cats are independent and may not stay only inside the house but wander into neighbors’ yards. In more unusual cases, people who keep reptiles, which may be dangerous or cause panic to others, such as lizards or snakes, must ensure the area is securely enclosed to prevent them from escaping and causing trouble to others or harm to themselves.

Cleanliness – No matter what type of pet you have, you must seriously consider cleanliness and hygiene. Prepare a designated area for cleaning. This will help keep pets healthy and safe from dirt and disease, while also maintaining a healthy living environment for your home.

With this level of care, your beloved pet companions will be able to live happily with you in your new home.
